Top volleyball player Lauri Kerminen continues in Russia

According to Russian sources, Lauri Kerminen, who was dismissed from the Finnish men’s national volleyball team, will continue in Dynamo Moscow.

Top volleyball player representing Russian Dynamo Moscow Lauri Kerminen has announced that he will continue playing for the Russian club, says the Russian Volleyball Federation volley.ru website (you will go to another service). It also tells about it news agency TASS. (you switch to another service)

TASS had received confirmation of the news from Kerminen’s agent From Viktor Ivanov.

The 30-year-old Kerminen received criticism last year when he did not leave the club after Russia attacked Ukraine on February 24. The Finnish Volleyball Federation later suspended Kerminen from the national team.

Kerminen has played in Russia since 2015.

He said in May that he was willing to cancel his contract, but the club’s top officials announced financial sanctions.

– They promised to return to the matter. The next day I was told that I could leave, but it would cost money. The amount wasn’t quite a million euros, but it won’t be frozen for long, Kerminen commented to STT.

President of the Volleyball Association Lauri Inna told Urheilu in July that shelving was the only possible solution.

– The head coach Joel Banks approached us and asked about the union’s policy. The national team must focus on the important EC qualification. The leadership of the union was asked for help and we made a decision. Now the team doesn’t have to worry too much about this kind of thing.

– We have prepared this issue together with Lauri. This is a top player, but there is no other way to act now, Inna commented at the time.

Kerminen has won the championship in Dynamo Moscow.
