Tom Holland was devastated and the lousy reviews of his

Tom Holland is currently in a rather difficult phase of his young career. The 27-year-old Spider-Man actor is trying to build an acting profile outside of the Marvel world. The latest attempt: a role in the Apple series The Crowded Room, in which Holland plays the character Daniel Keyes – a murderer who suffers from multiple personality disorder. Sounds exciting, but was not well received by the critics.

Tom Holland read pangs and hoped for something positive, but…

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Holland described the moment he was viewing the reviews for his series. A punch in the pit of the stomach, or as Holland puts it: “It was a slap in the face.” He looked at the reviews and came across a particularly bad one. “I was like, ‘Wow, that’s a bad review.’ Sometimes there is something forgiving. But there was nothing.”

On the big rating portals Meta Critic and Rotten Tomatoes, the opinions on The Crowded Room are indeed very different: The critics don’t mean well with the series. The audience is in a better mood.

Tom Holland takes career break and returns to Spider-Man afterwards

Tom Holland worked hard for the role, which makes the mediocre to lousy reception even more bitter. The Crowded Room drained him so much that he’s now on career hiatus. He wants to take a year off “And the reason for that is that it was extremely exhausting to do this series.”

Once Holland has recovered, wait two new film projects on him. He has recently been associated with Paddington director Paul King’s Fred Astaire biopic. In addition, his Marvel return is expected in Spider-Man 4. However, the MCU sequel is still a long way off. One of the reasons for this is the current writers’ strike in Hollywood.
