Time: Kaurismäki’s “Falling autumn leaves” is the best film of the year

According to the magazine, Kaurismäki is a master of human comedies, of a type “often perceived as odd or charming”. Much of “life consists of small epiphanies that form the core of who we are,” Time writes, continuing its rationale:

“This is Kaurismäki’s gift: capturing these moments, seemingly plucking them from the wind, and putting them on the screen so that we too recognize them when we see them.”

In second place in the Times ranking comes Bradley Cooper’s “Maestro” and in third place Jonathan Glazer’s “The zone of interest”.

“Falling autumn leaves” received the jury prize at the Cannes Film Festival in May and is one of the favorites ahead of the European Film Academy’s gala on December 9 with no less than five nominations.
