Content creators will be able to apply this to all content created entirely or significantly edited by AI. The policy requires people to tag AI-generated content that contains realistic images, audio or video to help viewers contextualize the video and prevent the spread of misleading content. Creators will now be able to do this via the new tag (or other type of description, such as a tag or title).

We’ll be releasing educational videos and resources in the coming weeks to help our community learn how and why to use these tags. Over time, we hope these tags will become another tool creators and viewers use to share content, similar to verified account badges and branded content tags.

We’re also iterating on our methods of automatically tagging AI-generated content. This week, we will begin testing an “AI-generated” tag that we plan to automatically apply to content we eventually detect has been edited or created with AI.

To provide greater clarity about AI-powered TikTok products, we are renaming TikTok AI effects to explicitly include “AI” in their names and associated effect labels.
