The firing range was canceled at the time due to the fact that exercise shooting with a shotgun was going on. The ammunition used was sharp and the scooter drivers passed right through the target area.
No one was injured in the incident because the practiced strength just made a cartridge out to take a break.
– These young people had a fantastic trip this time. The worst could have happened, says Ida Fredriksson, communications manager at K 4 in Arvidsjaur.
“Very unpleasant”
The conscripts who practiced when the incident occurred experienced the situation as very unpleasant and received support.
– The security during sharp shoots is rigorous, but when some civilian person defies the cancellation and enters the field, it is beyond circumstances we can control. It is very uncomfortable for someone who practices with sharp ammunition to think about what could have happened. I think that everyone understands, says Ida Fredriksson.
The incident police report
Police are now handling the case and a report has been made. They have reportedly also contacted and informed the custodians to the three minors.
– We appeal to all guardians – talk to your children about how fatal it is to defy the delights and get into the firing range. We also want to remind all residents and visitors to Arvidsjaur that scooter traffic is prohibited on the firing range, whether or not it is canceled, says Ida Fredriksson.
