On Thursday, a threat was directed at CIS International School in Kalmar, reports SVT Småland. The school management has now decided to cancel classes on Friday.

– Late in the afternoon, a threat came to the school. We gathered the group and realized it was a big threat and contacted the police, says the school’s CEO Tomas Eriksson.

The decision also affects Västra Skolan and a total of 480 junior and senior high school students.

– We have informed staff, students and parents. We have chosen to remain closed so that they can feel secure that we can handle these situations.

Eriksson does not want to state what the threat is about.

– It is so serious that we are closing the school, says Eriksson.

The police confirm that they are investigating the information.

– We have received information relating to a school in Kalmar, which school I cannot enter. Nor what data, says police spokesperson Rickard Lundqvist.

He adds:

– We examine and evaluate the data. Any measures at the school are not something that the police have decided on.

The school’s CEO now trusts the work of the police and hopes that the school can reopen safely on Monday.
