“Those who come to me are…”

Stina Nilsson is one of Swedish skiing’s most popular.
Now the Swedish biathlete opens up about life as a celebrity.
And how hard she actually thinks it is with the attention.

Last season was not at all what many or she herself had hoped for. Stina Nilsson had to fight hard and encountered adversity after adversity in his third season as a biathlete.

Nilsson admits

The Swede was both poked from the World Cup and not selected for the Biathlon World Cup after a long period of weak results. Instead, she got to represent Sweden in the Biathlon European Championships and the IBU Cup, the level below the World Cup.

The newly turned 30-year-old admits himself what went wrong last year.
– The season was not good. It actually started last summer when I got corona, I had to chase the other girls quite a lot. I didn’t have the flow in training that I wanted and I didn’t get into it. It was stressful and a lot didn’t add up. I managed to turn things around a bit after Christmas and was able to go to the EC well, but I’m not satisfied with last season, says Nilsson in an interview with Sportbladet.
– It is doubtful. You want to feel that what I do in training, I can do in competition. It will be a search when you get home, now it’s not going well at the competition, what can I do then? Once the season starts, of course it becomes stressful because you don’t have as much time as you want to try to turn it around. I was affected, more frustrated than stressed.

Stina’s private life

In addition to sport, a lot has happened for Stina in her private life. During the summer, she turned 30 and her relationship with her national team colleague Emil Nykvist has been made public, but it’s not something she’s particularly keen to talk about.

Overall, Stina Nilsson is quite uncomfortable with showing off her life in public. Despite being in the public eye for over ten years as a popular athlete, she still hasn’t gotten used to being a celebrity.
– Both and… I know that people recognize someone, but I’m not always comfortable with there being such differences between me and the person who comes forward and thinks they know me. To the person I am not a stranger, but to me that person is, says Nilsson to the evening newspaper and is brutally honest about celebrity life.
– It could be quite a big collision, I’m expected to know things about people who come forward, but I have no idea. Ten years later, I haven’t gotten used to that bit. I’m more introverted and want mine.

November 25th is the new biathlon season for the national team Swede and with a better pre-season now she goes in with greater confidence to get revenge after the last season.
– Now I’ve had such a good summer so far, so my wish is that it goes as well this winter as it has gone this summer, then I’ll be satisfied. I feel strong and that is my goal, to come to the season and feel strong because then I think it will go well. It’s a chance for revenge, then we’ll see if that happens, but it’s definitely a chance, she says in the interview.
