This new city will host the first Dragon Ball theme

Son Goku fans will be delighted with the colossal project of an amusement park, the first in the world dedicated to the Dragon Ball universe. An announcement which comes a few days after the death of creator Akira Toriyama and which pays him a beautiful tribute.

This March 1, 2024, fans of Son Goku, Son Gohan and Vegeta mourned the death of the creator of the Japanese manga, Akira Toriyama. The latter has imagined a universe such that it unites young people from around the world and fascinates all generations. Dragon Ball, first published in 1984, was wildly successful, becoming one of the best-selling manga of all time. His immense talent, praised by many personalities, including our President Emmanuel Macron, inspired the creation of a theme park dedicated to his universe. But it is not in Japan that this major amusement park will see the light of day.

It is in Qiddiya, near Ryad, a future city in Saudi Arabia dedicated to leisure, that the first park in the world dedicated to Dragon Ball will be built, the promoter of this colossal project announced this Friday, March 22. Of course, the details of the television series will be there in this 500,000 m² amusement park, which will include the seven zones (like the 7 crystal balls). Nearly 30 attractions will be offered, inspired by the house of Awesome Turtle, the Capsule Corporation as well as the planet of Beerus who is the god of destruction.

The new city of Qiddiya is part of the program called “Vision 2030” in Saudi Arabia aimed at developing the tourism industry. The objective: to host several theme parks, cultural venues and facilities dedicated to sport. Although this major project began in 2019, we do not yet know when it will be completed to welcome visitors who are already fans of the project.
