Eintracht Frankfurt became the first team in 48 years to score five goals in the first 60 minutes against Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga.
Bayern Munich, who won the eleven previous German men’s football championships, suffered a 1-5 defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga on Saturday. The loss was the first of the season for the German giants.
In this millennium, Bayern have lost 4 times in the Bundesliga by 1-5; in 2019 also for Eintracht Frankfurt, in 2009 for Wolfsburg and in 2002 for Schalke.
French Junior Dina Ebimbe scored two goals for Frankfurt, they were responsible for the other full goals Omar Marmoush, Hugo Larsson and Ansgar Knauff. Bayern star Harry Kane remained without a goal for only the third time this season in the Bundesliga.
Bayern’s game feeling was not the best possible, as it had played the last time on November 29.
Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel exceptionally changed both of his full-backs at half-time when the team was 1–3 down at that stage.
– We underestimated the opponent’s half-hearted chances that led to goals. In addition, we gave up the game too early. We didn’t do the things we had planned on the pitch and we lacked the intensity of the match because we didn’t play last week. It didn’t show in training yet, but the lack of feeling for the game showed today. There were too many single, blatant mistakes, Tuchel commented to Reuters.
– I still have full confidence in my team. There’s no need to worry too much now.
Next Tuesday, Bayern will face Manchester United at home in the final round of the Champions League group stage. Bayern has already secured their place in the next round and first place in Group A.
In the Bundesliga, before the winter break, Bayern Munich will face VfB Stuttgart at home on December 17 and Wolfsburg away on December 20. The series returns from the break on January 12.
Lukas Hradecky representing Bayer Leverkusen – the only undefeated team in the series – has a chance to increase their league lead to six points with a win on Sunday. Leverkusen will face VfB Stuttgart, who are on a five-game winning streak, in a top match starting at 16:30.
