Just over two years ago, the municipality together with the residents of Drottninghög started a project that would make the district both safer and more attractive. The project is called “Safe Growth” and is taken from North America.
– We worked on crime prevention in the public space by changing physical places but also by working with social aspects linked to crime prevention, says Iman Abbas, security strategist at the City of Helsingborg.
The city of Helsingborg is not only the first in Sweden with the project, but also in the whole of Europe. And the next step is for the municipality to take a step back to let the residents drive which issues they believe will increase safety in the district.
