Then the storm Pia hit the waterways in Ängelholm

On the night of Friday, the entire coast, from southern Halland to Malmö, was affected by storm Pia, which moved in from Denmark.

The wind blew for about 30 meters per second and the sea level rose. Ängelholm became one of the most affected areas when the winds from the northwest moved in across the Öresund.

The water drowned the harbor plan

Fields and meadows turned into small lakes. The harbor plan at the marina in Skälderviken disappeared under the water, which also submerged the quay and the adjacent promenade.

The boat owner Christian Hansen had to hastily protect his boat from hitting the edge of the quay which was under water,

– It was just a matter of getting started and hanging out the fenders, he says.

No serious injuries

Inside Ängelholm, the rising seawater pushed hard against the Rönne å, which overflowed all the banks and partly submerged the walking path that runs along the river.

But despite the strong winds and waves, Pia did not cause any serious damage.

– We had prepared for events, but it was very calm during the night. The only thing that happened was that two trees blew down in Höganäs, says Tobias Aldgård, officer on duty at the Northwest Rescue Service.
