Kasper Halttunen was one of Finland’s key players when Sweden bowed out in Gothenburg. In his opinion, he felt injustice in Sweden’s equalizing goal.

GOTHENBURG. Kasper Halttunen rose to the forefront when Finland celebrated a 5–4 victory against Sweden on New Year’s Eve after the winning goal competition

Halttunen scored a goal and gave two assists. He is the top name in Finland’s internal goal exchange and points exchange with the results of four preliminary group matches 3+3.

– He dreamed of such games since he was a little boy. The puddle won’t get any better from this. It was an incredible game, Halttunen rejoiced.

In his opinion, Halttunen felt injustice in Sweden’s 3-3 draw. He skated in the middle area when Felix Unger Sörum surprised from behind. He passed Halttunen, and the stick caught the Swede’s way.

Halttunen tried to do everything he could while playing without a stick, but Sweden Theo Lindstein pushed the puck into the net.

– I don’t know if (they scored) because I didn’t have the stick and if I could have done something with the stick. That’s how it went this time.

– Then we showed guts and came back.

Halttunen gave feedback to the referee about the matches. However, the judge was not interested in this, instead he headed towards the middle area.

– I don’t remember exactly, but he somehow said, Let’s go to the bench. I felt wronged in that situation, so of course emotions come to the surface. However, I have to keep control so that I don’t have to sit on the ice shelf, Halttunen said.

According to Halttunen, Finland was able to show what kind of team it is at its best. He reminds that Sweden did not have any opportunities, especially in the opening set.

– When we play the rest of the games like that, it will be good.

Even after the match against Sweden, it was not completely certain which team Finland would face in the quarterfinals. However, Halttunen threatened self-confidence.

– Whoever it is, we are ready. Bring anyone, we’re going to fight hard and to the medal games, Halttunen summed up.

Late on Saturday, the opponent finally survived when, despite a hard fight, Germany was unable to win against Canada.

Thus, the Finnish group was won by Sweden, Canada was second, Finland third and Latvia fourth. Group jumbo Germany’s destiny is to qualify against Norway for a place in the A series of the World Cup.

In the quarterfinals, on Tuesday at 1 p.m., Finland will face Slovakia, which took second place in the second preliminary group.
