– We were shocked by what we saw in Nasser’s hospital. There was trash everywhere. The electricity didn’t work. Part of the hospital has been damaged and some badly, Peeperkorn said.
According to the WHO, there are 180 patients in the hospital, who are cared for by 15 doctors and nurses. There is a shortage of oxygen, care-related supplies, as well as water and food. The backup generator is used to maintain the most important equipment, WHO says.
Nasser Hospital is the latest healthcare facility to be affected by the conflict between Israel and the terrorist organization Hamas.
According to the Israeli army, the strike it made on Nasser’s hospital was “precise and limited†. The army justified the attack with intelligence that Hamas has kept Israeli hostages in the hospital. Hamas has denied Israel’s claims.
