The word in Norway about Stina Nilsson – now reveals her big dream after leaving biathlon: “She is very motivated”

Stina Nilsson is ready for a long-distance venture.
Now her Norwegian team reveals the star’s dream.
– She is very motivated, says Anders Aukland.

It was a total of four years as a biathlete for Stina Nilsson. When Nilsson had first left cross-country skiing for a new venture, in a new sport, the development curve pointed straight up for a long time. But then it got harder for Nilsson, who during the winter mostly had to compete in the IBU Cup.

Changing sports again

In addition, Nilsson didn’t get the chance in the Olympics last year, nor in this winter’s WC. However, she has always said that she wants to continue in biathlon, but yesterday came the shock news. Nilsson chooses, once again, to change sports. Instead, it is now a bet on the long haul that awaits the star.

Stina Nilsson has signed a two-year contract with the big Norwegian team Team Ragde Charge, which is owned by skiing legends Jörgen and Anders Aukland.

– I feel that I have reached my potential in biathlon. I have always been fascinated and inspired by long-distance running and the Vasaloppet. When the Aukland brothers with Team Ragde Charge got in touch, I felt “YES”, this is what I would like to do, Stina said in a statement.

She dreams about it

A big reason why Nilsson now chooses to invest in long races has to do with the World Cup. Anders Aukland tells Norwegian TV2 that Stina Nilsson dreams of the Swedish classic competition.

– She wishes to compete in Ski Classics. She is from Mora and the Vasaloppet is a dream for her. She is very motivated and has the right attitude. We are very happy to have her in the team, he says.

Tiril Eckhoff, biathlon expert on TV2, believes that Nilsson made the right decision.

– Long runs will suit her well, but she will have to put in a lot of effort to take up the fight with the very best, she says.
