US Secretary of State Antony Blinken is traveling to China next week. With him he has a sharp message from US President Joe Biden: Stop supporting Russia’s war against Ukraine.

According to the US, China has not provided Russia with direct military support, but has provided it with supplies that supported the invasion of Ukraine. China’s support has helped Russia regroup its forces during the long delay with a US aid package for Ukraine, according to US officials.

Blinken’s task is to deliver the message directly to Beijing.

– If on the one hand China wants to have good relations with Europe and other countries, it cannot on the other hand fire on what is the worst threat to European security since the Cold War, said Blinken in connection with the G7 meeting on Capri.

Blinken’s visit to China is the second in a year. It follows a recent phone call between President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping, as well as a visit by Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen to the country.
