The USA girls did like the boys and won the JVM final

After the final whistle, the U18 players ran up to their goalkeeper Layla Hemp and just screamed, screamed, screamed and hugged a little.

– It is not a team of big stars, would not think that there will be as many stars as seniors, but they do so well according to their conditions, says SVT Sports expert Maria Rooth.

Carmichael’s goal set up the victory

At the beginning of the third period, Kassidy Carmichael held out the stick and skilfully guided the puck in that would have gone wide and 3-1 to the USA was a fact and a hand could be put on the dent.

The Czech Republic couldn’t bear to threaten and with just under seven minutes the USA established pressure and from close range Carmichael stayed in front again and pushed in 4-1 and now it was two hands on the dent.

The final 5-1 came in an empty net when the Czech Republic picked out Aneta Senkova in the goal.

The Czech Republic knocked out Canada in the semi-finals

The Czech Republic’s final place was a big surprise. Was beaten by Finland (2-3) and Canada (1-8) in the group stage but surprised big in the playoffs by beating Sweden 4-2 in the quarter-finals and Canada by the same numbers in the semi-finals.

Canada won the bronze medal match against Finland 8-1 while Sweden finished fifth after beating Slovakia 4-1 in a placement match earlier in the day.

– From the bottom of my heart, I feel disappointed with Sweden’s results. They should have played a semi-final. Now we got to see the Czech Republic as an upstart team, says Maria Rooth.
