Family with children? Here are the expensive traps you should avoid on your sports holiday

Cheap outdoor activities on the sports holiday

According to Medelen Larsson, there are several ways to get a cheaper sports holiday, without it becoming more boring.

– Fritidsbanken is available in more and more places and there you can borrow ski equipment for free and go cross-country skiing in nature where there is snow. It is also possible to borrow sleds, skates and equipment for other winter sports. Taking a day on the lake with skates and a good lunch bag is a very pleasant activity. As soon as you go out with a little lunch bag, it immediately becomes a cozy moment. It doesn’t even have to be far, it can be to the nearest forest or a new playground for those who don’t have snow, she tells Nyheter24.

If you’d rather be indoors, there are plenty of cheap, or even free, options for activities, says Madelen Larsson.

– If you have a museum nearby, it usually costs less. Indoors, it is possible to organize a home cinema with tickets, a kiosk where you can buy popcorn and candy, which has been very much appreciated by our children. It is also possible to organize a restaurant in the home and let the children be involved and steer as far as possible. We are a family that likes to play a lot of games together, so it’s definitely an activity that I want to promote. I think activities like games have been greatly underestimated.

– The library usually organizes activities during the autumn holidays for children of different ages and some municipalities have free activities. So check out what is organized near where you live.

Madelen Larsson: “Dare to rest and take it easy”

Madelen Larsson also opens up about the fact that as a parent you may not need to have a packed sports holiday schedule.

– Sometimes it is not a series of activities that the children need during holidays when they have been in guided activities during school days, leisure time and perhaps in some leisure activity. Many children need space and time for free play, for imagination and to figure out what they want to do, she tells Nyheter24 and continues:

– In today’s society, we serve the children a lot of activities, but it may not be exactly what the children always need. So dare to rest and take it easy, it’s also something to practice. That things shouldn’t always happen.
