Clashes continue in the Ukraine-Russia war, which has been going on for three weeks. Some of the allegations made about the Russian army are terrifying. A regional governor in Ukraine claimed that Russian soldiers were holding patients and doctors hostage at a hospital in the city of Mariupol during a brutal siege. According to reports, about 350 thousand people are in danger of running out of food and water, while parents have to leave the premature babies in a hospital in Mariupol.
In the last days, when the Russian army bombed the city and the Ukrainians fought to the death to keep the Russians away, the city witnessed gruesome scenes; buildings were bombed and street clashes ensued.
Attempts to evacuate the city as part of the humanitarian corridor have failed, but Mariupol still has around 350,000 people, where resources are dwindling.
“GUILTY OF HUMANITY”
Pavel Kirilenko, the commander of the Ukrainian army in the Donetsk region, said that while the war raged, people could not leave the hospital.
Kirilenko also said that about 400 local residents and 100 staff members were held together as human shields in the hospital, which was a “crime against humanity”.
“It’s impossible to get out of the hospital,” Kirilenko wrote in a Telegram post. “They shoot hard, we sit in the basement.”
“Cars can’t go to the hospital for two days. High buildings are on fire. The Russians drove 400 people from neighboring houses to our hospital. We can’t get out.”
Three hospitals in Mariupol reportedly have premature babies whose parents were forced to leave the hospital.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that Russian troops carried out a direct air strike on the maternity hospital in Mariupol.
Pavel Kirilenko, Head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, also shared the images of the attack on the maternity hospital, in a statement on his Facebook account, “The Russian pilot, who probably did not hesitate to call himself a man, pulled the trigger knowing exactly where the bomb would hit.” had used the phrase.
