The Swedish super talent Leo Carlsson’s show in the NHL – hugely praised after the new goal success

Leo Carlsson continues to impress in the NHL.
He was responsible for another goal last night – and is now being praised for the start of his first NHL season.

The Anaheim Ducks are coming off some really tough years where they have not been close to reaching the playoffs. It was also why they were drawn to get the second pick in this summer’s draft, where everyone expected to select the super talent Adam Fantilli. But when the Ducks stepped onto the stage, after the Chicago Blackhawks chose Connor Bedard, the Swede’s name was read out instead.

New smash hit

Adam Fantilli was chosen instead by the Columbus Blue Jackets, and in North America many were skeptical of the Ducks’ decision. But a few games into his NHL career, Leo Carlsson has shown that the Ducks might have made the right choice after all. Carlsson, who was successful in the SHL last year and who became the youngest WC player ever for Tre Kronor this spring, scored directly in his debut, and after that he has only continued to impress.

RYAN SUN/AP/TT Anaheim’s Leo Carlsson, second from right, celebrates one of three goals from Troy Terry, second from left, in tonight’s game against Arizona.

Leo Carlsson, who has been rested for a few games as the Ducks want to take it easy on him, played his sixth game of the season last night, when he tied the game 3-3 in the third period against the Arizona Coyotes. Leo Carlsson was in the right place in the right place when a shot was guided via his stick and into the net. Leo Carlsson, who has now scored three goals in six games, was afterwards honest that it might not have been very deliberate.

– I don’t remember what happened before but I got a loose backhand shot and then got it to Terry, I didn’t see when he shot but he hit me on the stick and it went into the ceiling, Leo Carlsson told Hockeynews.

Highly praised

Leo Carlsson’s goal took the game to extra time, where the Ducks were also able to decide when Troy Terry scored a hat trick goal. The Anaheim Ducks were tipped by many experts before the season, but have started the season brilliantly. The night’s victory was the team’s fifth in a row, and tonight you could thank Leo Carlsson for that.

On social media and various forums, Leo Carlsson is now hugely praised for both the effort against Arizona, and for the start of his NHL career.

“Ducks probably made a good choice anyway…”, writes one user.

“It’s only his sixth game. He will dominate when the Ducks start playing him more,” writes another.
