The Swedish biathlon star spent Christmas isolated in the basement

Hanna Öberg’s Christmas was ruined because of the flu. He spent Christmas in the basement with his parents’ dogs.

Swedish biathlon star Hanna Öberg got sick with a cold before Christmas and had to spend Christmas isolated in the basement. Öberg told about his extraordinary Christmas On the Vinterpasset podcast.

Öberg joked about getting sick, but he had to be careful because his spouse Martin Ponsiluma and his sister Elvira Öberg are also biathlon athletes.

– They avoided me like the plague. Martin brought me food on the stairs. I’m still sitting in the basement, Öberg said according to Aftonbladet.

Öberg’s parents drove nearly seven hours to Östersund so that the family could spend Christmas Eve together, but illness caused exceptional arrangements to be made to the plans.

On Christmas Eve, Öberg was kept company in the basement by his parents’ dogs.

– We ate in different places on Christmas Eve, but after that we met in the yard. Elvira had made dessert and we shared the Christmas presents, Öberg explained.

Öberg, ranked 11th in the World Cup, is still not fully fit and it is unclear whether he will have time to recover when the World Cup resumes next week in Oberhof, Germany.

– The situation is not bad, I just have a cold. I don’t have any dangerous symptoms, but they haven’t subsided yet. I’m still not healthy enough to train. I’m getting a little frustrated because time is running out.

Oberhof’s competitions will be shown next week on channels. The women’s fast race is scheduled for Friday next week.
