After the stress of work, traffic congestion and rush during the day, both physical and mental fatigue can occur. At this point, a feeling of relief comes after a shower at the end of the day. In this context, 3 separate experiments were conducted to examine cleaning behaviors. In the article with interesting results, the relaxing effect of taking a shower was scientifically proven.
3 DIFFERENT EXPERIMENTS WERE PERFORMED
The scientific study, published as an article in 2023, examined the role of cleanliness in alleviating the psychological and physiological effects of stress. Three separate experiments were conducted in the study with more than 3,000 male and female participants.
As part of the experiments, they tried to determine the psychological effects of cleaning behaviors, such as anxiety, tension and stress, and the physiological effects, such as heart rate and body endurance.
EVEN WASHING HANDS IS RELAXING
The results of the experiments revealed that even washing hands was relaxing, and it was stated that both watching someone cleaning and doing the cleaning reduced stress.
Researchers have highlighted that a behavior such as hand washing is very useful in high-stress tasks such as social performance and evaluation.
Following this behavior, participants in the experiment appeared to have more harmonious heart rhythms while performing a high-stress task.
THE FEELING OF ‘COMING TO YOURSELF’ HAS BEEN SCIENTIFICALLY PROVEN
While it is stated that taking a shower has an effect on reducing stress levels, it has been scientifically proven that the feeling of ‘coming to your senses’ after a shower provides a high level of relaxation.
