Security measures are at a high level in the capital of India due to the G-20 Leaders Summit. 130,000 security personnel are on duty. Searches were made with dogs in the streets. All checks were completed before world leaders reached the city.
CONTACT WITH WORLD LEADERS FROM ERDOĞAN
According to Haber Global; President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will represent Turkey at the summit. Erdogan will also hold bilateral meetings with leaders.
ERDOĞAN IN INDIA
President Erdoğan arrived at AFS Palam Military Airport at 16.10 GMT with the “TRK” plane. Erdoğan, who was welcomed at the airport by New Delhi Ambassador Fırat Sunel, his wife Yonca Sunel and some Indian officials, moved to the hotel where he would stay.
Erdoğan and his wife Emine Erdoğan, along with Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan, Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek, MİT President İbrahim Kalın, Presidential Communications Director Fahrettin Altun, Chief Advisor to the President Ambassador Akif Çağatay Kılıç and some officials also came to New Delhi.
US President Joe Biden set out from Washington to attend the G-20 summit. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, and Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman will also be in New Delhi.
3 LEADERS ARE NOT AT THE SUMMIT
Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping will not attend the summit this year. Putin will be represented by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, and Xi will be represented by Prime Minister Li Qiang.
COVID OBSTACLE TO SANCHEZ
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez will not be able to meet with leaders in New Delhi as he has tested positive for Kovid-19.
DIFFERENCE OF OPINION AMONG MEMBER STATES
In the talks, leaders are expected to focus on global economic growth. Climate change, debt relief and United Nations development goals will also be discussed.
Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is the most prominent dispute among member states. Therefore, it is wondered whether a final declaration will be published at the end of the summit.
Moscow’s stance is already clear; Lavrov said he would block any declaration on Ukraine that did not reflect the Kremlin’s views.
