The shock message that shakes Norway – the skiing star takes a break from his career: “I haven’t been myself”

Norwegian skiing star Helene Marie Fossesholm is taking a break from competing.
The 22-year-old does not expect to run any races until next year.
“This fall, joy took a hit, I haven’t been myself, neither physically nor mentally,” writes Fossesholm on Instagram.

This weekend, the ski season kicks off in Norway with competitions in Beitostølen. Now it is clear that Helene Marie Fossesholm will not start. The 22-year-old announces on Instagram that she will not compete until next year.
“I have had to take a step back, for me the joy of sports and competition has always been most important,” writes the Norwegian.

Helene Marie Fossesholm’s big breakthrough came in the 2020/21 season when she led Norway to WC gold in the relay where they beat the favorites Sweden.

But the time that followed did not turn out as she had imagined. Last year she was far from the podium places in the World Cup and in the WC she did not start in any race.
“I have to put things in the right order. I’ve been running for the past few years, even though I may not have been quite ready. There probably won’t be much skiing for me before Christmas, but I hope to be ready after the New Year”.

Fossesholm ends the post positively:
“There is light at the end of the tunnel, it’s just a little long, but I won’t give up. In the meantime, I will enjoy the skiing, because the joy of skiing is after all the most important thing”.
