the revision operations of the electoral list start this Tuesday

In Gabon, the long-awaited operation to revise the electoral list starts on Tuesday. It is a capital operation, because those registered on the electoral list will participate in three elections, namely: presidential, legislative and local. According to the Constitution, the presidential election must take place this year between July and August, that is to say in three months at the most.

The Minister of the Interior, Lambert Noël Matha recalled that the operations which begin on Tuesday mainly concern young people who have reached majority in the past seven years. Those who are not on the old electoral list drawn up in 2016 are also concerned. Families are called upon to declare the deaths so that the dead are removed from the electoral rolls. Main innovation, it is no longer mandatory to register in the center where you will vote.

The operations will last 30 days in 159 enrollment centers in Gabon and 31 abroad. More than 3,000 people will be mobilized.

The government announces that generators are provided wherever there is no electricity to operate the enrollment kit consisting of a computer, a scanner and a camera.

Registrants will have three days to make complaints. Then comes the editing and distribution of voter cards.
