When an Eritrean festival was arranged at Järvafältet, large riots broke out. Over 50 people were injured and several hundred were detained.

Now the Prime Minister is directing harsh criticism at what happened.

– It is absolutely terrible. You cannot come to Sweden to fight, says Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M) to TV4 Nyheterna.

The festival Eritrea Scandinavia is an Eritrean cultural festival and has been organized in Stockholm since the 1990s. This has previously been criticized for supporting the Eritrean regime.

“Not reasonable”

According to information to TV4 Nyheterna, Sweden was already warned in advance by Denmark that rioters were on their way.

Region Stockholm was forced to go into emergency mode and three police officers were injured in the demonstrations.

– You have the right to express your opinion, but you cannot start fighting and occupy several hundred policemen for this. Especially not when we have many other big difficult tasks. This week also the Pride Festival and the Pride Parade today, says Ulf Kristersson.

Even Minister of Justice Gunnar Strömmer (M) was critical of those who participated in the riots. He now receives the approval of the Prime Minister.

– It is not reasonable for Sweden to become a stage for all the world’s conflicts. In Sweden, people stick to the law and respect each other’s opinions. You don’t start chasing each other with sticks in a field, says Ulf Kristersson.
