Turkey has had its say. Sunday’s election has been called a fateful election. Kemal Kiliçdaroglu, the leader of the opposition CHP party, is challenging incumbent President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for the presidency – and it looks like he has a good chance of winning. The election’s most important issues The election’s most important issue has been the economy, which has taken a big hit in recent years. Other major challenges include the corruption problem, the refugee situation and the aftermath of the earthquake that hit eastern Turkey earlier this year. For Sweden, of course, a possible yes to admitting Sweden into NATO is of interest.
