Athletics world champion Shawn Barber has died at the age of 29.

Barber died Wednesday at his home in Kingwood, Texas. This was confirmed by his agent Paul Doyle news agency for AP. The cause of death is not yet known. Barber had had health problems.

– He was more than an incredible athlete. Shawn was a kind-hearted person who always put others before himself. It’s tragic to lose a good person at such a young age, Doyle lamented on Thursday.

The Canadian is the country’s record holder in the pole vault with a record of 600. Barber won the world championship at the 2015 World Championships in Beijing with a score of 590.

He represented his country at the 2016 Olympics, where he finished tenth.
