The Norwegian girlfriend’s heartwarming tribute after Edvin Anger’s monster success: “It’s absolutely sick!”

Edvin Anger took his first career podium on Wednesday.
Now he is highly praised by his Norwegian girlfriend Emma Axelsson.
– I felt it on myself, she tells VG.

Edwin Anger has long been a great skiing talent and one of the best U23 skiers in the last couple of seasons. The 21-year-old has impressed the most in sprints, but has never reached that top three position.

Anger was surprised

Anger had a tougher start at the Tour de Ski. In the first stage, his specialty sprint, Edvin already went out in the quarter-finals after placing last in his heat. And in the remaining stages, he has had difficulty getting particularly high in the results lists.

Maybe it was precisely because of Anger’s girlfriend Emma Axelsson decided to surprise him by suddenly showing up in Davos with both her and Edvin’s family. Something that shocked Anger.
– I was about to back into the wall, I got scared for myself. I was going out for a run. Then I opened the door and the whole damn gang was sitting still along the wall. I thought “this is not right”. But it’s great fun, he told Sportbladet after the surprise.

The girlfriend’s tribute

When it was time for the sprint, it was Edvin’s turn to surprise. He consistently did a very good sprint, when Emma Axelsson, who is also a skier, and her family stood in the stands and cheered.
– It’s fine to cheer for a Swede, I’m half-Swedish, so I grew up cheering for Sweden.
– It is much better to be here (than at home), the atmosphere and everything around, to meet him, says Axelsson to VG.

The good form lasted until the final, where Anger finished second and thus took the first podium of his career in the World Cup. There was great joy for Edvin who celebrated and hugged with a bunch of people in the stadium. Then he was praised by love.
– It was completely insane. I felt it on me, that today he will go well. It was great fun, says Emma Axelsson to the Norwegian newspaper.
