Meta is constantly updating its WhatsApp instant messenger to meet the expectations of its users. The latter were also eagerly awaiting many functions that had been announced, in particular in order to have a little more control over the visibility of their personal information, but also to be able to use the famous Call Links, which make it possible to start a call with just a touch. This is now done with the latest update on Android (version 2.22.21.83) and on iOS (version 22.21.77), which adds many functions to the application, including a long-awaited one: the possibility of leaving a discreet group!

WhatsApp: a plethora of new functions

Normally, when you want to leave a group on WhatsApp, a small message appears in the conversation, and the application even goes so far as to warn the other participants of this departure. Rather uncomfortable when you want to be discreet, especially since a group can contain up to 512 participants – a number that will soon double. With the new option – in test since August -, no one will be informed – unless they consult and know the list of members by heart – except for the administrators of the group, who will still receive an alert. Good news for those who like to spin in English, but which will disappoint fans of departures with great fanfare – how to slam a virtual door after an argument now? The best would perhaps have been to leave the choice to the user when leaving the group to inform or not of his departure…

Other rather interesting functions are also arriving. WhatsApp now welcomes Call Links – literally “call links” in French -, an option that allows you to directly create a link to a call – audio or video – and share it with the people of your choice – including those who are not in his contacts. They can join the discussion with the touch of a finger. The creation of the call links will be done on the upper part of the screen, by pressing the option “Create a call link”, in the “Calls” tab. The interlocutor will then receive the link in the form of an invitation in the private conversation and will only have to press it. Rather practical!

Admins can now delete posts for all responders – who will see who the deleter is, and it’s now possible to undo “Delete for me” for a few seconds. Finally, as with Instagram stories, users can display a reaction in emojis. Note that these functions may not appear immediately with the update, but will gradually arrive over the next few days. Others should also be coming soon, such as blocking screenshots for single-view photos and videos and the ability to choose who is allowed to see the user online.
