The new tank in Overwatch 2 will take headshots even if it hits you in the pinky toe

The next tank for Overwatch 2 is known and has been introduced. He’s so op that he always takes headshots – no matter where he hits.

Overwatch 2’s next big tank hero was introduced at BlizzCon – and it’s a real closet. The massive Mauga comes with two huge wummers (each as big as Tracer) and is intended to offer a tanking option that can also counter flying enemies like Pharah or Echo. Apart from that, he has a little “cheat” because Mauga can take headshots all over your body – even if he only hits you in the little toe.

Why does he always take headshots? This is because of his two weapons. Mauga has two huge guns, both of which can be fired at the same time, but have a special feature. His left weapon (“Gunny”) sets enemies on fire after a few hits. His other weapon (“Cha-Cha”) deals normal damage unless the enemy target is on fire. In this case, all hits are always critical hits – i.e. headshots.

What else can Mauga do? Apart from this “headshot cheat”, Mauga has other interesting abilities.

  • Berserker: Mauga gains temporary health whenever he deals critical damage.
  • Tackle: Mauga charges forward in a straight line. At the end of his rush, he jumps into the air and lands again shortly afterwards. Enemies in the target area are thrown backwards, and targets hit directly are stunned for a short time. As long as Mauga is charging, he is immune to all control effects.
  • Overdrive: Mauga activates both hearts in his body and grants himself and survivors an aura, giving allies Lifesteal – healing themselves when they deal damage.
  • Ultimate – Cage Fight: Mauga creates a cage, the center of which he binds himself. All enemies in the area of effect are chained to Mauga and are trapped in this cage with him and other players. Mauga has infinite ammo for the duration of the ultimate.
All healing and damage from outside the cage is blocked by a barrier.
  • When is Mauga coming? Mauga won’t appear in Overwatch 2 for a few weeks, but the developers have temporarily unlocked him in the game. If you want to try out the new hero, you should start Overwatch 2 straight away and see what you can do with the new hero in the arcade or quick match.

How do you like the new Tank Mauga? A cool new idea for Overwatch 2? Or does he not pick you up at all?
