Foreign minister Liz (Elizabeth) Truss is the new chairman of the British Conservative Party. He also becomes the prime minister of the country.

In his short victory speech, Truss thanked his supporters and his predecessor Boris Johnsonwhom he praised as much as the president of Russia for completing the British exit from the EU Vladimir Putin also about resisting.

The British conservatives had to start a new selection process when the increasingly unpopular Boris Johnson announced on July 7 that he would resign from his position.

After Johnson’s resignation announcement, several Conservative MPs entered the race for the position of chairman and prime minister.

The election began to be carried out by the party’s MPs. In the voting, the least popular candidates were eliminated. In the end, there were only three candidates left. Sunak secured his seat easily, but Truss came close to losing the position of Deputy Minister for Trade To Penny Mordaunt.

The final choice will be made by members of the Conservative Party, of whom around 150,000 have registered for this election.

What happens next?

After Sir Graham announced the candidate with the most votes, he gave a speech, but did not answer reporters’ questions.
