There are 27 parliamentarians for this mission. The objective is to carry out a more in-depth investigation into the 2020 budget of the Covid-19 response and solidarity fund. In February 2023, the audit report from the Court of Auditors requested by the government revealed certain shortcomings in the use of mobilized resources, causing excitement within the population.

The Economic Monitoring association, a civil society organization, filed a complaint in March with the public prosecutor’s office for tax fraud and breach of trust against X. The complaint was dismissed in April. The judge in fact considered that the association could not be harmed and could therefore not claim any damage.

But on Friday, in the National Assembly, the matter resurfaced. Yawa Tsegan, the president of parliament, announced that she was taking her responsibilities by studying and opting for a new fact-finding mission into the circumstances of the use of funds allocated in 2020 for Covid-19. The members of the commission of inquiry have 45 days to submit their report to the president’s table in Parliament.
