There were happy, satisfied and proud smiles from the local politicians in Timrå, Sundsvall and Härnösand after the news about the Chinese battery giant PTL’s billion-dollar investment in Torsboda, which provides 1,900 jobs. But pretty soon the questions came about the Chinese ownership – and how they see it.
– I understand that questions and concerns can be raised about it, says Sundsvall’s municipal councilor Niklas Säwén (S), among other things in the clip here.
Alicja Kapica (M), opposition councilor in Sundsvall, points out that the municipality is always careful about the background work when it comes to investments.
– We want to be thorough regardless of the establishment involved, she says.
