The municipal council in Älvsbyn on the LVU mess: Will not resign

Dahlqvist says that the situation in the municipality has been difficult for everyone involved and that with hindsight other decisions have been made.

– What feels most difficult is that now, eight weeks later, with the benefit of hindsight, they would have certainly done things differently. No one knew this, he says.

Welcome the reviews

At the same time, Dahlqvist points out that the reviews that have now been launched against the municipality’s actions are good and will bring more answers.

– We should not be afraid of being audited. Hopefully, we will discover all the shortcomings that have been committed in order to be able to remedy them in the future.

Will not resign

During the weekend, votes were raised for Dahlqvist’s resignation from two social democrats in the social committee. The same two who initially reserved themselves against the decision to reunite the children with their parents.

But Dahlqvist has no thoughts of stepping aside.

– No, I have absolutely no plans for that, nor do I see that my resignation would make social services better in any way.

There may be more departures

Johan Dahlqvist does not want to comment on whether more people will have to resign in order to rebuild trust in the municipality.

– When the investigations are on the table, everything will be presented. What has been done wrong and whether it is a system error or a person who made a mistake. Until then, I don’t want to answer that question, says Johan Dahlqvist (M).
