The mighty duel that ensues when an 80 kilo wrestler is challenged by a 140 kilo bodybuilder

It looks like David versus Goliath.
An 80 kilo wrestler against a 140 kilo bodybuilder.
Enough that a wrestler has the technique, but surely a bodybuilder this big should give his opponent a real match?

You gotta love the internet. Because how else would we have seen this very obscure duel? The setup is simple. An 80-kilogram wrestler goes up against a 140-kilogram guy who built his muscles at the gym.

Salomäki vs Fell

The men behind the duel are the wrestler Jouko Salomäki and the bodybuilder Hans Fell.

Salomäki was a successful wrestler who won both Olympic gold and World Cup gold. He also took a WC bronze and a bunch of national victories in his native Finland. “Jokke”, as he was called, competed in the discipline of Greco-Roman wrestling.

Hanssi “Hans” Fell was a high-level bodybuilder. He competed in bodybuilding in the 90s. Fell also acted as a gladiator in the Finnish version of “Gladiators” – an entertainment program where “ordinary” people challenge muscular men and women in various challenges.

Epic fight

It must have been Hans Fell who challenged Jouko Salomäki to a match. This in the discipline of freestyle wrestling. Salomäki’s regular discipline was thus Greco-Roman wrestling, which Fell knew very well. It was a conscious choice by the bodybuilder, with the idea that the meeting will then be easier in his favor.

However, Salomäki had competed in the discipline earlier in his career and knew it well. But the wrestler must have been close to retirement and out of great shape.

In any case, wrestling rules apply in the duel between Fell and Salomäki, and you just wait for the bigger of the “wrestlers” to get hold of the smaller one and decide everything.
