The message that makes William Poromaa cheer loudly – now reveals the big dream: “The peak of my career”

William Poromaa has had a gigantic breakthrough.
Now the WC hero is rejoicing over a message – which makes him dream.
– It would be absolutely magical, he says.

William Poromaa has long been a super talent in the skiing world and has been seen as Sweden’s savior on the men’s side. And last season and winter he had a big international breakthrough, with a fantastic season that still gave more flavor.

The message that makes him cheer

Poromaa didn’t always have the margins on his side, but during the WC he really got everything right, and in the big highlight of the season, he finally got a result to take with him for the rest of his life. In the final race of the competitions he took a somewhat sensational bronze, and the success in the five-mile was the first for the men’s national team in many years, and Poromaa’s first in his career.

But Poromaa is already looking forward to all that the future has to offer. Recently there was news that Sweden is working hard for an Olympic application for 2030. Sweden already has the World Cup in 2027, but for Poromaa it would be a dream come true if the Olympic Games were also decided in our elongated country.

– It would mean an incredible amount. The Olympics on home soil, not many get to experience it. It would be absolutely magical, he tells P4 Västernorrland.

Revealing the big dream

William Poromaa is only 22 years old, but has already had time to make a real impression in the absolute top of the world. Should Sweden get the Olympics in 2030, that would be when Poromaa should be at the absolute peak of his career.

– This year is perhaps when I’m at the peak of my career, hopefully. It would be incredibly big, he says.

William Poromaa has a WC medal and now awaits a year without a championship. However, he is clear about his goals and what he dreams of in the future.

– I dream of Olympic and WC gold. That is what I fight for every single day. I like this thing about championships, it’s what drives me forward and always has, he says, and continues:

– I remember when I was younger and that’s what I watched. You saw all the greats get their medals, and that’s when you really felt the sport. That is what I strive for and long for.
