The medal heroes again on Swedish soil: “Proud”

The Swedish national team landed on Monday afternoon at Arlanda – after the WC bronze in Australia and New Zealand. The national team players were welcomed with applause and shouts of victory, and had to answer questions about the experience during the World Cup, writes The soccer channel.

Kosovar Asllani is happy to be back in Sweden and is satisfied with the WC bronze.

– It’s great to be back in Sweden. It was a long journey now, and we felt that we wanted to have a good final match and bring home a medal to Sweden. We are proud of what we have achieved, so there are positive feelings, says Asllani to TV4 Nyheterna live.

– We had an evening yesterday, where we could relax a bit. Then everyone took different flights and now we have gathered here. There has been a bit of a celebration, she continues.

How big is a WC bronze?
– It is incredibly large. You mustn’t forget which teams we beat on the road, both the USA and Japan, world champions. It was small details that decided that we didn’t get to play a WC final. Then we were strong in the squad, as we managed to recharge and gather strength for the last match. We decided that we would row home a medal for Sweden, and that is something we are proud of, says Asllani.

At the same time, Asllani admits that the championship has gained momentum.

– Right now you are incredibly tired, and long to lie down and sleep, and gather strength before everyone heads to their club teams. I long to sleep and recharge my batteries.

Zecira Musovic is also happy after the championship.

– I haven’t had time to land on everything yet. Everything has gone together with match after match, but of course it was a very special tournament from many aspects for me.

Johanna Rytting Kaneryd is now hoping for a little celebration on Monday evening.

– The plan is for us to have dinner with loved ones. It’s probably a bit of an uproar, and then I hope there will be a proper celebration with dancing and music tonight.

At the same time, she believes that the trip from Australia has taken its toll.

– We have all traveled in different ways, I don’t know how many hours it has been in total, but you feel a little half alive now that we have arrived.
