(Finance) – It was held today at Trentin the Sala Belli of the Palazzo della Provincia, the first press conference of the 2023 edition of Trento Economics Festival in the presence of the President of the Autonomous Province of Trento Maurizio Fugatti, the director of Sole 24 Ore, Radio 24 and the Radiocor press agency Fabio Tamburini, the CEO of 24 ORE Eventi Federico Silvestri, the CEO of Trentino Marketing Maurizio Rossini, the rector of the University of Trento Flavio Deflorian and the mayor of Trento Franco Ianeselli. It was an opportunity to present the “Manifest” of the Festival of Economics and launch the new edition, scheduled in Trento from 25 to 28 May 2023 and dedicated to the theme “The Future of the Future. The challenges of a new world”.
After the great success of the last edition of the Trento Festival of Economics – the first organized by the 24 ORE Group and Trentino Marketing on behalf of Trentino institutions – confirmed the formula innovation introduced in the 2022 edition: a widespread event, designed to activate the city of Trento, in a network that weaves together the needs and opportunities of businesses, institutions, young people and families. An event characterized by a dynamic and innovative schedule which, alongside the traditional appointments of the Festival, offers a rich agenda of initiatives aimed at young people and families: the “FuoriFestival” with special, cultural, didactic, but also transversal and entertainment with the involvement of talents, creators and influencers followed by young people; “Local economies”, the series of appointments that gives voice to local businesses and institutions in an in-depth format on local realities, the “Meetings with the author” and the live events of Radio 24 in Piazza Cesare Battisti which in June have a large participation of public flocked to meet their favorite conductors and experience live the emotions of live radio and behind the scenes.
A rich is also expected for 2023 schedule of meetings, events, talks and keynotes which will see the participation of opinion leaders of national and international importance and prominent personalities including Nobel Prize winners, scientists and researchers, representatives of civil society and institutions, economists, entrepreneurs, managers and representatives of the most important academic realities in Italy and in the world.
Between Announcements of 2023, in addition to the change of date, which is ahead of the traditional date, also the decision to increase, in particular for the entertainment appointments of the FuoriFestival, the use of squares and open spaces, which allow greater audience attendance and engagement. Also, a change in the Committee Scientific of the event chaired by the Director of Sole 24 Ore, Radio 24 and the Radiocor news agency Fabio Tamburini. In place of Gabriella Berloffa, full professor of Political Economics at the University of Trento, comes Ericka Costa, associate professor of Business Economics in the Department of Economics and Management of the University of Trento, who joins her colleague from the Trentino university Luigi Bonatti, full professor of Economic Policy and to the historian of economics Adriana Castagnoli, former professor of Contemporary History at the University of Turin.

During the presentation, the President of the Scientific Committee of the Trento Festival of Economics Fabio Tamburini, Director of Sole 24 Ore, Radiocor and Radio 24 illustrated the Manifest of the 2023 edition which explains the choice of theme for the eighteenth edition of the Trentino event: “The search for a compass that allows us to orient ourselves on the map of a new frontier between order and disorder has proved to be even more difficult than expected – explained Tamburini – The failure of globalisation, at least in the forms we have become accustomed to knowing, was analyzed in detail in the latest edition of the Trento Festival of Economics. Now it’s a question of going further: we need to imagine a better future, a necessary prerequisite for knowing how to build it.”
And he continued: “The future of futuretitle of2023 edition of the Festival of Economics, passes through the challenges of a new world: climate change and energy transition, first of all. But also the need to bring the public debt of the states under control, to beat inflation, to avoid the recession. The size of the coming revolutions exceeds i borders both of the imagination and of the earth. And in fact one of the most fascinating chapters is the economy of space, with the return to the moon and private entrepreneurs as protagonists together with the States. Certainly, to be successful, it is necessary to rediscover a system of values swept away by consumerism and nationalism in their most obtuse version. With the ability to put sustainability, circular economy, inclusion and gender equality first. Humanity and peace must be put back at the centre. If possible quickly, before war and violence become ordinary tools for resolving conflicts. The situation is not reassuring: poverty and inequality are increasing, the world is sitting on a mountain of debt, the demographic winter is weakening a large part of the countries of the West and the East. On the contrary, new protagonists burst onto the scene, and are preparing to do so more and more, starting fromAfrica. It’s better to look inside, ask yourself questions and try adequate answers before it’s too late.”
Tamburini then concluded: “We owe our children and grandchildren an effort of thought and analysis to bring the reality as a result of conscious choices, and not the result of chance, bullying, disinterest or distraction. The commitment is to build a 2023 edition Festival of Economics that will be an opportunity for reflection and insights to build the best possible future, overcoming the challenges of a new world.”
