The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry examined many brands and restaurants. It gets longer and longer, the list never ends. Tomato paste, tea, spices… Unscrupulous people adulterate almost every food. The scary part for the consumer is that it is very difficult to distinguish the real product.
Experts talked about dangerous dyes used in products such as tomato paste, tea and spices.
Dr. Aysun Sağlam said, “They can sell the food to us by adding dyes to us in different ways during the production phase, that is, by adding dyes at different stages depending on the type of food produced and its contents in the production process. In fact, there are places where the use of dyes in food is allowed, but fraudsters add dyes that should not be used, such as textile dyes and dyes used in different industries, to foods that should not be used.” “They’re trying to make food look nicer.” he said.
Stating that it is not possible to understand this dangerous game, Dr. Sağlam said, “Food fraudsters never do tricks that we can distinguish with our eyes, tongue or smell. We are unlikely to understand.” He completed his statement by saying.
Nutrition and Dietetics Specialist Gamze Çakoğlu emphasized that such substances carry a risk of cancer and said, “Such paints contain heavy metals such as lead, aluminum and mercury. Heavy metals increase the risk of cancer, cause memory problems and cause skin rashes and eczema.” he said.
Fraudsters add food dyes to tea, tomato paste, chili peppers and ground pepper. They are trying to deceive the public with this method by increasing the appeal of the poor quality product.
While a powdered dye is used in pepper powder and tea, a red dye in gel form is used in tomato paste.
