British singing star Ed Sheeran has won a lawsuit filed against him in the US for copying.

The imitation accusation was related to the singer’s song Thinking Out Loud. In the lawsuit, it was alleged that the song’s melodies were copied by the singer-songwriter Marvin Gaye from the 1973 hit Let’s Get It On.

However, a New York jury found Sheeran not guilty of copying.

They had filed a lawsuit by Ed Townsend heirs. Townsend did Let’s Get It On with Gaye.

Sheeran denied copying Gaye’s song. According to Sheeran’s defense, the songs are different because Thinking Out Loud is “low-key, has melancholic undertones and is about a long-lasting love story” while Let’s Get It On “is sexual in nature”.

Last in 2017, Sheeran settled the case with (you switch to another service) (you switch to another service), in which he allegedly infringed copyright with his song Photograph. Similar structures had been found in the song Amazing by the two songwriters. The deal cost the singer $20 million.
