The killer in Knives Out 2 has 5 real life role

If you haven’t seen Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery on Netflix, you should ditch this article now. Because this is about them Personality of the killer in the second Knives Out film by Rian Johnson and will be kept secret until just before the end.

Warning, spoilers follow for Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.

In the comedy, billionaire Miles Bron (Edward Norton) invites his friends to a Greek island under the pretense of playing a particularly lavish crime dinner with them. However, the master detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) convicts the successful businessman of the double murder: Former business partner Andi Brand (Janelle Monáe) and Twitch streamer Duke Cody (Dave Bautista) fall victim to him. (More on this in the article about the end of Glass Onion and its significance)

Miles Bron isn’t just the killer in Knives Out 2, he’s also a caricature of various real (and fictional) people: from Steve Jobs to probably the best role of Tom Cruise

1. Glass Onion role model: Apple founder Steve Jobs

Netflix

Edward Norton as Miles Bron

Knives Out creator Rian Johnson has described in interviews that it’s not a role model for Miles Bron, rather the character is more of a collection of many influences (via The Atlantic). Nevertheless, the film is full of allusions to famous inspirations. Below is the late Apple founder Steve Jobswho liked to appear at his new product launches in jeans and a black turtleneck – an outfit worn by Miles Bron in Glass Onion.

2. Role model: Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg

Netflix

Miles in the gray t-shirt

Killer Miles has a soft spot for gray T-shirts in Glass Onion, which the deliberately casually dressed Mark Zuckerberg should like. In the course of the film it also comes out that Miles stole the idea for his company Alpha from his girlfriend Andi and later pushed her out of the company. That brings back memories of the Founding of Facebook and Zuckerberg’s dealings with the Winklevoss twins and his former friend Eduardo Saverin.

You can find out more about this in The Social Network, which is even mentioned at the beginning of the Netflix film: “[He]
social networked here”
Lionel (Leslie Odom Jr.) explains about Miles’ dealings with his business partner.

3. Role Model: Elizabeth Holmes, the Theranos con artist

At one point, Miles is seen in a pose modeled after businesswoman and convicted fraudster Elizabeth Holmes. Holmes’ company Theranos reportedly found a way to test people for hundreds of diseases with just a drop of blood. This turned out to be a lie and Holmes was later sentenced to 11 years and 3 months in prison.

Appropriately, in the Glass Onion version, Miles looks at the napkin he faked, which is supposed to contain the idea for Alpha. His attempt at a untested new development at any price could have come from Holmes.

4. Role model: The new Twitter CEO Elon Musk

Netflix

Miles Bron = Elon Musk?

After Netflix launched, Glass Onion was released as a film about the “Age of Elon Musk” (Politico ), also because the Tesla CEO has been on everyone’s lips since the acquisition of Twitter (and made himself look ridiculous). Rian Johnson told the Atlantic that Musk is going tor “cloud of persons” heard that inspired the character Miles Bron. The sad topicality of Glass Onion is a “terrible coincidence” (Wired ).

There are some parallels too Paypal co-founder Elon Musk. Like the South African, Bron tries his luck in a wide variety of markets, from NFTs to TV stations to miracle fuels. Tesla founder Martin Eberhard also accused Musk of disgusting him from the company and using Eberhard’s ideas for his own (Wired ).

5. Role Model: Old Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey

Netflix

Miles Bron, hippie billionaire

When we first see Miles he’s sitting on the beach in his pajamas with a guitar, looking like an extra from the backpacker’s nightmare The Beach. The super-rich is indulging in his image as a free-spirited, nature-loving hippie, which stands in stark contrast to the pinstripe standard of many board members. But he’s not alone, because Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey is him Prototype of the hippie CEOwho works from home at the booth and meditates on his bank balance in caves (New York Post ).

The Tom Cruise connection from Knives Out 2

The list could go on, with names like Richard Branson (Virgin) and Jeff Bezos (Amazon). However, the finest reference in Knives Out 2 belongs to the fictional one Motivational coach and pickup artist Frank TJ Mackey, played by Tom Cruise in his best film. In a flashback, Glass Onion killer Miles Bron wears an outfit similar to the character from Magnolia.

On the one hand, this is a nice gag, but it hides a deeper insight into his character. Even back when Miles was hanging out with his friends at the Glass Onion bar, he copied the look of a movie characterto look cool. The fact that he later appears like a conglomerate of real-life billionaires not only testifies to the inspiration of the screenplay, but also proves that every idea Miles really had grew out of the crap of others.
