Post’s appeal to couples collecting parcels: ‘Happens daily’

Posts appeal to couples collecting parcels Happens daily

Working at a post office means receiving and delivering mail and packages to customers. But sometimes it gets messy, especially when people have to pick up mail.

This has Fredrik Borgström who works at a post office, been there many times. He tells the News24 about the common mistake that people, and especially couples, make when collecting mail.

Come prepared

Borgström says that it often happens that people who are to pick up packages are not properly prepared. It is very important that you have valid identification with you.

– Many customers find it very difficult to understand how important it is to have a valid ID with them and that the name must match the name on the package. An example of this that happens very often is customers trying to collect for their husband, wife or friend, without having their identification with them and when you deny this they say they can call the person in question to confirm their identity. Of course, it doesn’t work that way and when you try to explain this to the customer, you are often greeted in an unpleasant manner.

And some who often have invalid identification are newly married couples. Therefore, it often happens that they cannot collect packages.

– A scenario that happens every day is that the person who is going to pick up the package has married and therefore changed their last name, their ID shows their new last name but the package shows their old one. Since there are two different names, I may not hand over the package to you, unless you show paper on the name change.

He continues:

– Many people think this is completely sick and the scoldings you have received because of this are too many. They say they want to talk to your manager, to call the store owner, report us, and so on. The only thing we do is our job and follow the rules we have been assigned.
