Nils van der Poel has a winning skull like few.
But he still had no chance when it came time for the hunter’s break in the Champions of Masters.

With double WC gold, double Olympic gold and double world records at 5,000 meters and 10,000 meters so dominated Nils van der Poel the sport of skating for two years in a row. He came in like a whirlwind, completely broke form, won everything and then chose to end his career.
Van der Poel’s success
At the last Sports Gala, the 26-year-old took the grand slam by winning the Achievement Gold, the Jerring Prize, Male Athlete of the Year and Performance of the Year. But van der Poel is not on the lazy side as a newly retired sports pensioner, because right now he is highly topical in the SVT program “Master of Champions”.

When it came time for the classic hunter’s rest competition, most probably thought that the ice skating king would step in and dominate the physically and mentally demanding challenge. With his endurance and winning skull, he was also the favorite for victory.
– I am very happy to see you here. But I also know that the pleasure is entirely on my side, says the presenter Micke Leijnergard to the athletes before.

But then another athlete steps into the gymnast Jonna Adlerteg into the action and takes over the entire event, see the video below.
– You only get a chance like this once in your life. Trying to beat Nils van der Poel in hunting rest as well. Then I just felt: “Now I’m driving!”, Jonna tells the program.

Adlerteg is as cool as can be and barely moves a face as she sits, seemingly completely relaxed, in the hunter’s pose. While van der Poel has to fight hard against the lactic acid in his legs and tortures himself a lot to sit as long as possible.
– So Jonna is completely unaffected. Competition skull deluxe!, say the participants Jens Byggmark and Johan Wissman who stands and watches.
– He will have to surrender. She hasn’t moved a fin.
– Although you should never underestimate Nils’ ability to hate himself and the desire for it to hurt.

Nils van der Poel really gives his utmost during the fiercest duel of all time in the hunter’s rest at the Masters of the Masters. While Jonna Adlerteg hardly seems to be having a particularly hard time and manages to turn off the pain completely.
– How long have we been driving? 13 minutes, oops! It’s like 10,000 m. Damn, how hard it is now! Good job, Jonna!, says Nils to Adlerteg during the competition.
Jonna Adlerteg also manages to defeat the world’s best skater quite easily and wins the hunter’s rest after a great display. SVT has posted the clip on its social media and everyone is praising the gymnast to the skies, see the video below.
“Jonna is incredibly strong!”, writes one user.
“So cruel and so cool that she sweeps the court with the boys,” writes another.
“Shows how well-trained gymnasts are. All the body’s muscles are at their best,” writes a third.
