The High Council of Malians in France wants to play

Faced with the deterioration since 2020 of relations between Mali and France, the High Council of Malians in France (HCMF) wants to play a neutral intermediary role between the authorities of the two countries. The organ organized a meeting on Friday June 3 in Paris to which the entire Malian community and the press were invited. Objective: to ease diplomatic tensions between France and Mali.

For the High Council of Malians of Franceit is a duty to act for promote dialogue between the Malian and French authoritiesas Allassane Keïta, in charge of legal affairs, points out:

The High Council has the right or even the duty to do something so that France and Mali can find solutions to put an end to this crisis which has lasted too long. So the High Council is counting on the start of this new government with the legislative elections (in France – Editor’s note) so that at least France manages to regain its rightful place within the framework of its relations with Mali in particular, and with French-speaking Africa in general. »

Ramata Maïga is the coordinator of the M5 RFP movement, a movement behind the 2020 popular uprising in Mali. She recognizes that dialogue with France must be re-established, but with respect for the aspirations of Malians:

We have not rejected France. We have said that the French policy of colonizers no longer suits us. Africa aspires to economic, monetary and territorial sovereignty, whether France accepts it or not. »

The High Council calls on the political authorities of Mali and France to favor dialogue in order to restore peaceful relations between the two countries.
