The healthcare union extends strike notice – SKR responds: “Danger for life”

The announcement covers an additional 1,900 members and two new regions – Värmland and Västmanland. The strike phase will begin on June 11 at 11 a.m.

Already last week, a notice was announced for approximately 2,000 employees in the Stockholm region, Västra Götaland, Skåne, Östergötland and Västerbotten. The strike phase begins on June 4 at 11 a.m.

Conflict between the Healthcare Association and the employers

  • The healthcare union extends strike notice – starts on 11 June

  • Region Stockholm calls the strike announcement dangerous to society – rejected by the Health Confederation

  • A total of 3,900 members are now covered by the strike.

“We want nothing more than for the conflict to be resolved with better conditions for our members. But SKR and Sobona flatly say no to our demands,” says Sineva Ribeiro in a press release.

    SKR: “Danger for life”

Sweden’s Municipalities and Regions, SKR, warned earlier on Tuesday morning that the strike could mean “urgent danger to life”.

“This can in a short time have serious consequences such as serious injuries, permanent pain and death,” they write in a statement to the Mediation Institute.

Sineva Ribeiro tells SVT Nyheter that they have sat in many local negotiations where the situation is no longer considered dangerous to society.

    – But we have a responsibility to raise the flag when patients get sick. That is what we are doing with this notice. We see that the employer does not succeed in retaining and providing competence in these four vital professions, and then there will be no care.

The healthcare association: “No offer received”

The ongoing care conflict began on April 25 and, in addition to the strike notices, means that around 68,000 members do not work overtime in the country’s regions and in the ambulance healthcare in Stockholm.

A few days ago, one of the mediators in the conflict, Gunilla Runnquist, confirmed that a bid as a proposal for a solution is underway.

The chairman of the healthcare association, Sineva Ribeiro, says that they have not received an offer yet.

    – If we get it, we will deal with it. The federal board is prepared to review the offer. We have been clear with the mediators that we want to see a start on the shortening of weekly working hours, without it we will probably not be able to accept the final offer.
