Almost half of Sweden’s municipalities and regions have been exposed to one or more suspicious IT attacks in the past year. This shows a survey conducted by TV4 Nyheterna. This week, among other things, school buses and security alarms in several parts of the country have been affected by disruptions due to hacker attacks. This week, Taxi Trollhättan had to find paper and pen again when a hacker attack against a supplier shut down the booking system. – We neither see bookings nor can enter new bookings. We can’t see our vehicles either, says Mikael Hermansson, taxi operator. Another attack set off security alarms in several parts of the country on Thursday. The cyber security chief: “Serious” When TV4 Nyheterna asks Sweden’s municipalities and regions about suspected IT attacks in the past year, nearly half, 44 percent, of the respondents state that they have been exposed. – It is extremely regrettable and serious that something like this can happen. It is important to systematically control your own environment at all times, but also require your subcontractors to do so, says Anders Andersson, cyber security manager for the Västra Götaland region. The most common type of IT attack is said to be so-called DDoS or overload attacks and phishing emails, which can install ransomware and demand a ransom to unlock.
