The executive is sending a refusal to the social partners: it will not sign, as it stands, the new unemployment insurance agreement, something unheard of for years. “The unemployment agreement will not be approved” and there will be a “joining decree until June”, several union sources indicated this Monday, November 27.

This, even though the general secretary of the CFDT Marylise Léon had affirmed several times in recent days that she saw in the approval of the social partners’ agreement, a “political choice” which would be worth “the government’s confidence in social dialogue” .

Compensation for seniors, the main sticking point

According to Force Ouvrière negotiator Michel Beaugas, the government is waiting for negotiations on seniors “to be sure that there will be an agreement that includes the savings announced.” And for good reason, the executive believes that it does not have sufficient guarantees regarding compensation and employment of workers over 55 years old.

Resulting from the agreement concluded between the social partners on November 10, the text in question provides for a decree allowing the current rules to be extended until June 2024. First and foremost, those directly linked to the provisions of the labor reform pensions on compensation for seniors, which provides for the raising of age limits for an extended duration of rights. This, while forecasting in advance the volume of savings to be made over the next three years: 440 million euros over the period 2024-2027.
