Charlotte Baris: In La Loupe every Tuesday, we start our episode with a striking figure, which allows us to shed light on a current subject and for today’s episode – dedicated to the front page of L’Express this week – I I decided to do the same thing. And for good reason: the figure I have at hand is particularly edifying: one in three people, this is the proportion of us who will be affected by a mental illness, at one point or another in their lives – whether it’s depression, anxiety, addiction, even bipolar disorder or schizophrenia. We can even go further: a third of these sick people will suffer from a chronic form, which is resistant to medications and certain treatments.

Mental health is therefore the business of each of us. If you are not directly affected dear listeners, know that it is very likely that someone around you is affected by a mental illness. Faced with this observation, psychiatry is a medical specialty that is more essential than ever but which unfortunately suffers from a lack of investment. L’Express took up the subject for its front page this week: “Mental disorders, new hopes”, is the title of the major cover story that we are running in La Loupe today.
