The first star from the original returns, and even Mandalorian darling Pedro Pascal is there

The first star from the original returns and even Mandalorian

For a long time, Gladiator 2 felt like a bad Hollywood joke. After more than two decades, why on earth would Ridley Scott return to his 2000 Oscar winner when the story is already over? But that is exactly what is happening. The Gladiator sequel is in the middle of pre-production.

From a bad joke is one of the hottest film projects become. This is reflected above all in the casting: almost every Hollywood star who somehow fitted the profile is said to have auditioned for the leading role. Ultimately, it went to Paul Mescal, who recently excelled in the indie drama Aftersun.

Gladiator 2 brings back Connie Nielsen from the original and snaps up Pedro Pascal

More casting news about Gladiator 2 arrived over the weekend. On the one hand, the first star from the original who has an appearance in the second part is certain: Connie Nielsen returns as Lucilla back, as reported by Deadline. On the other hand, Pedro Pascal joins the growing ensemble.

Pascal is currently one of the most sought after actors in Hollywood. Just this year he led the outstanding The Last of Us film adaptation. He’s also the biggest name in the cast of The Mandalorian, although we rarely see him. As Oberyn Martell, he was able to prepare perfectly for Gladiator 2 in Game of Thrones.

Beat together with mescal and pascal three other actors making their debut in the Gladiator universe: Denzel Washington, Joseph Quinn, and Barry Keoghan, who also recently introduced himself as the Joker on DC.

When will Gladiator 2 be in cinemas?

Gladiator 2 starts on November 22, 2024 in the US in cinemas. A German start has not yet been determined. However, it can be assumed that the film will be shown in local cinemas in the near future.
