Max Friberg was hit in the face by a puck.
The Frölunda player has now undergone surgery for the injury.
Friberg has also announced when he is back in the game.
It was at the end of the second period in the match between Frölunda and Oskarshamn on Thursday evening that the accident happened. Max Friberg was standing in front of the away team’s goal when the puck suddenly came flying and hit the home team’s captain right in the face.
Friberg’s accident
Friberg soon got back on his feet and started to go towards the booth, whereupon fellow and opposing players noticed that something was wrong. Disgusting images unfolded as the 30-year-old made his way onto the ice bleeding from the mouth. Friberg had to leave the game, while his teeth and mouth guard were picked up from the ice by his teammate Nicklas Lasu.

A Lasu who was worried about his captain.
– Max is not really the one who stays behind and might go to the booth the first thing that happens. You could see quite early on that there was something, and then you see that the mouth is bleeding a little. But nasty situation, hope everything is ok with him, he told P4 Skaraborg after the match.
New message
The entire third period Frölunda thus had to manage without their captain, who had left the arena for examination. Which proved tough for the home team. At 2-2, Oskarshamn got a power play. Then could Lukas Jasek put 3-2 to the away team, which was also the final result.
– It is clear that Friberg is a heavy loss, we need him on the ice. He is incredibly important to us so I would like to have him back as soon as possible, said Lasu.

It was several hours at the dentist and on Friday night he underwent an operation to put back one of the teeth that he lost in his mouth. But on Friday, Friberg was back in training(!) with Frölunda, and he aims to play the away match against Örebro on Saturday.
– They did a great job fixing me up, not much else to say. The head was calm, now it was mostly to get used to the mask and get ready for the match. A day like any other really, says Friberg to Rakapuckar.
